  • Let down rule

If you say you're letting down, and while you're letting down the arrow is released downrange, is that considered a shot arrow or are you allowed to shoot a second arrow?

It's a shot arrow and scored a zero per Shooting Rule (P):

An arrow that drops while being nocked onto the string in preparation for a shot may be picked up and shot with no penalty. If in the process of letting down an arrow drops off the bow, or is jarred off by hand contact with bow, it may be picked up and shot with no penalty. The shooter is responsible for maintaining control of the arrow at all times and an arrow must not be released or otherwise propelled by the string or it will be scored a zero.

If the bow discharges, it is a shot arrow. If in the process of letting down, the arrow comes off the string and drops off out in front of the shooter. It can be picked up and shot. If in the process of hooking up your release, the archer plucks or hits the string and knocks the arrow off the string. The arrow can be picked up and shot.
