How much weight?

What are some indicators that you have too much or too little weight added on your bow? When I reach full draw my pin goes all erratic on me. I've read about letting the pin float, but mine doesn't float; it jumps around like a jumping bean. I'm wondering if I've packed too much weight on the bow. All feed back appreciated...up to a point.
